If they have offered you a credit note for the full value of the headphones then grab it and buy something (anything) from the store. You can then sell that on ebay and recoup at least some of the money from the headphones. That sounds like a good deal to me, considering you've had a year's use out of them.

All the advice about part refunds and that you may need to get a engineers report just doesn't apply with Argos. They offer a one year warranty and they should honour it by either repairing or refunding.

I agree it's not your fault the method of payment is not recorded on the replacement receipt that they gave you. I'd try a different Argos and if that doesn't work I'd get onto the head office again and ask to speak to someone with more authority.

Its not recorded on the replacement receipt because you have to provide the original - no warranty extension occurs when its replaced.

I'm assuming the replacement receipt shows the original purchase date and is still within a year. If that's not the case then I'd take the voucher.

I read it that the replacement receipt shows the replaced date and therefore the OP is lucky to get credit to the original purchase price as the original purchase date is over 12 months ago

Its not overly clear, the OP says bought and got replacement within a week, replacement dated 16th, which would normally mean original around 9th, in any case without the OP's confirmation there is not much to go on at the moment
