new flea treatment

Hi
Wondered if anyone had heard of a new product called Fipnil flea and tick treatment for dogs and cats. Some sites are marketing it as a cheaper version of frontline. Now I wouldnt normally advocate cheap flea treatment (oh the horror of bob martins) but this is approx £14 for large dog and £ 10 for a cat both packs of 3 online and last up to 5 weeks.
I was going to purchase advantage at end of month but wondering if this is worth a go??
Does anyone have any info or advice?

Fipnil and other brands have the same active ingredient as Frontline (fipronil). I've never used Fipnil but I do buy Fiproline from Pets at Home which seems equally effective (well my cats have never had fleas).0

I bought some and ended up with a flea infestation because it didnt work on my cats. I now give them Advantage and I would otherwize give them Stronghold.
Basically its really cheap because its not as effective anymore. It cost me a fortune to get rid of fleas from my house with sprays and foggers and re treating the cats. It was awful.0 -
It's not worth the bother - see comment above0

There's absolutely nothing wrong with it. In the majority of cases, it's human error and failure to treat the environment as well as their pets that cause problems and/or a lack of understanding of how these products work to break the flea's life cycle. There is actually no scientific evidence to back the claims that fleas are becoming resistant to treatments.
The active ingredient of Frontline (fipronil) is no longer patented therefore other companies can produce flea treatments using exactly the same product. There are quite a few available on the market these days, and at a little over £1 per ampule are excellent value for money so absolutely no excuse whatsoever not to treat pets against fleas.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
Theres plenty of information on the internet about people now finding Frontline ineffective for their pets. Theres not loads of articles about Stronghold and Advantage not working.0

And it's all anecdotal evidence, not scientific proof. People are also claiming Advantage no longer works too. In reality, it's usually because people don't apply the products properly, forget to keep up with treatment or don't also treat the environment (i.e. their homes) sufficiently well. I've been using Frontline for over 20 years and have never had a problem with it. Neither have any of my clients that have used it properly in conjunction with other flea treatment.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0
