in Credit cards
Hi,
Please can someone tell me if something can be done about credit card companies that send out pre-selected application forms for a credit card? I received a form filled out with my name and address, the only info they needed was my date of birth, salary and my signature, all i had to do is fill in those parts and i would receive a card with a ready limit of £2500.00!!
This is the second time i have received a form of this type. My concern stems from a friend of mine being sent a form such as this, she had moved house and the new lodger used the form, gained a credit card in my friends name and went from there.....she is now having to fight to clear her name of the £250000.00 debt the other person had managed to accumalate though various cards and accounts, just because of one pre selected credit card form and a utility bill!
Is there a way to stop them sending them to you....surely with all the credit card fraud this is a dangerous activity?I am signed up to PMS(?)
Thanks ever so much for any help.

Would like to know myself as I've resorted to calling the companies direct to have me removed from the mailing list, wouldn't mind a easier method.0

Register with the Mailing Preference Service
http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/mpsr/
Also worth doing the Telephone Preference Service too
http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/tps/
They take 28 days to become active, but if you get any nuisance calls or junk mail after that, contact the issuer and tell them your submitting a complaint to the MPS or TPS.0 -
Hi, Thanks. I am signed up to MPS (sorry got it wrong ...not PMS...close but not close enough!) It was last year so maybe i need to check with them that i am still on their books. I will certainly try that route, thank you.0
