Homeplug and Wi-Fi

After playing musical chairs with the Homeplugs I have, as it can find the network, then not find it from the same plug, and get internet-access and find the network and not find the internet, it would appear that there must be a fault with one or both of them.
I understand there are Homeplugs now which also have wi-fi extension, and can take more than one ethernet plug.
Can anyone recommend what is needed?
Do I need 2 as I am unsure which if not both of the existing are faulty?
I would rather take a hit on the price, and get something fast and reliable, rather than have to go through this again.
Thanks again

You need to decide what model homeplugs you need. The 85Mbps ones are OK for ADSL but you'll need at least 200Mbps ones and preferably 500Mbps ones if you have or are likely to be getting fibre. I'm guessing yours are 85Mbps which won't be compatible with the faster ones so you'd need a full set if you do go for faster.

If you stick at the same speed you already have you should be able to find the dodgy one by substitution - ie which one works with the new. Sets tend to work out cheaper than singles anyway and you guarantee compatibility

    Net-X EPL-9200-ST-UK-SLV

    Technetix Homeplug AV 200 Mbps

I have medium fibre about 25 Mbps near the router.

I have the Quick Start Guide, looking for the CD, the guide is dated 2007.

Looking for the CD as it has a AV Utility which allows updating firmware. Won't have disposed of it, but it may be in a "safe place". We have too many of those round here.

    Refers up to Vista 32 & 64bit, I am running Windows 7 64bit

Does mention you have to have Net.Framework, sure it will be in windows, but maybe need to check.

Just tried it again, it found the Network, and the laptop showed internet access, but when I tried to find a page, it was saying Resolving Connection at the botom lh side of the Chrome screen.

    OK update
Found the CD (stopped looking for it and it jumped out and hit me!), loaded it into laptop Win 7 64, would not run. Called it quits, bit the bullet, rang Solwise, and spoke to the customer support, which was brill. Ordered plugs with a wi-fi one for the office end. Despatched same day, awaitng PO then I can see if we can get further.
Thanks for your help everyone. I will update when they arrive.

    Update2
Received this lunchtime the new plugs from Solwise. Thought I would do it simply and put the twin pack, it did work, but very slow 1.2Mbps. Spoke to them, and asked if all the lights were green, no middle red light, Noise on line, not unsuspected after problems with first ones. Tried eleminating everything else on the line, I could (there may be murder later if the lighting timers don't work !!! ;)) Still no joy.
So before throwing the towel in completely, decided to try to wi-fi plug I had ordered, still the red light, but got decide wi-fi speed, and a decent speed wired connection.
At this moment I am working on the principal of it's working, that'll do.
    Thanks everyone.
