And just to add, yes they mentioned they had been in the loft.
No mention of obstruction!0 -
Get a second and third opinion first... Perhaps someone independent who couldn't possibly be touting for extra work. Only then can you really decide whether to pursue a claim or not...An opinion is just that..... An opinion0

The survey was a full homebuyer report and thank god it was.

OP, you say "full homebuyer report" - it will either be a homebuyers report which is partly used for valuation purposes by the mortgage lender or a full structural report which is a thorough survey. The homebuyers report survey is less thorough. It is not clear which one you have.0 -
Sounds like it was the Homebuyers Report as oppose to the more in depth Building Survey.
But still, something like this should have been picked up in the HBR, especially if the chap checked the loft.0 -

Agree with this. It specifically says the roof void has been checked and that it's in reasonable condition. If it was too full to see anything it would say.0 -
I agree with the comments.
Surely if there was an obstruction he would have noted that in the report.
I am currently in touch with the surveyors so will see what comes back. May just see (under advice from a friend) to speak to the home legal team associated with my home insurance.0
