Is not relevant to a residential property.0 -
HI, need some help, I am a private tenant, in a basement flat, due to high levels of rain my flat has been flooded, there is a small amount of damage to my personal items, the landlord has contacted the freeholder, they have instructed their management company to deal with the damage to the flooring.
This i have been told will result in all flooring being ripped up plus the underneath treated and will take weeks, I have been told I will have to move out, I have no where to go, my landlord has also told me that in order to cover the cost of the carpet and damage o my items i will have to claim on my contents insurance- which i dont think is fair, seeing as last year i was in the same situation, although not to the extent of this time, and they knew there was a problem and didnt act.
Plus a previous tenant of the property experienced a similar situation with them
At the moment the flat stinks, the flooring is sodden, i have asked for something to put over the floor so i am still able to walk on it with out getting wet, and they have been completely unhelpful providing nothing, i have asked the management company for assistance and they have told me it is down to the landlord. My windows do not open and i am finding it unbearable.
What rights do i have, I have contacted the council who have told me they will write to them giving them 21 days to fix the problem, but what do i do in the meantime?0 -
