Boiler repaired but broke again after 2 months

Hi
I'm unsure if I'm posting in the correct place, but my boiler went wrong at the end of December and it would knock out the electric in the house a little while after firing up. I had a friend of a friend (who is corgi registered) come out who replaced a part in the boiler to fix it, but the issue has started happening again 2 months later. If I call him back out, is he likely to re-charge me, or should this be covered under some sort of guarantee? I don't think we ever got a receipt off him, and paid by cheque.
Thanks
