Im not sure why you went to ask them if it was ok to replace your own fence? And to ask for a contribution for a fence that is yours?

Although I suppose if you are sure they damaged it I can see why. Our next door neighbours rent their property from a landlord, and once he came round and sprayed their side of our fence with fence paint, but must have had a hell of a spraying machine as it went right over our fence and onto our garden furniture and even onto our windows a bit and was a nightmare to get off. Luckily our neighbours are really nice and gave us their old patio set, as the set that got damaged of ours was only an old cheap one anyway, but was the thought that counts otherwise I would have got them to contact him and ask him to pay. They also said they would warn the guy next time not to go so crazy! So if your neighbours have been leaning heavy stuff up against it, it would be nice for them to contribute something.

Anyway, I think the only thing you can do, is to replace it, and then if it were to get damaged again try to get the money back but like Harrys Dad says above, good luck with that if they have that type of attitude.

Perhaps once its been installed, you could pop over and say please make sure nothing is put up against the fence this time as you cant afford to keep replacing fences.
