advance payment for motability cars

Hi does anybody know if you can get help with paying the advance payment they are so expensive. The scheme is really good and save alot of money in the long run, but its just coming up with nearly £2000 for the type of car we need.

There is this, but normally it's used for those that need vehicles with really high up front payments i.e £11k for a van where a person in a wheelchair can drive.

What is it that you need that makes the upfront payment £2,000?

It's very rare to get advance payment help, unless you need a WAV, and even then, it can be extremely difficult,

Nothing to stop you applying though.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. ;)

Ask Motability and see what they say. the grant application process is fairly quick and simple. They send you a form to fill in your details and financial information and they base their decision on the info you give them. If they award a grant, they will also include a list of vehicles which you can spend the grant on. you aren't obliged to buy any of the cars they suggest but you do need to discuss it with them as they are providing the money.
I've had two cars with a full grant towards the AP, neither of which have been WAV's. One was for a Citroen Dispatch 9 seater which they also gave me £900 towards fitting AC to it and the next was for a Peugeot 5008 Allure 1.6 eHDI semi auto. The Citroen cost £26K and the Peugeot cost £25k, so vehicle cost isn't necessarily a barrier if the vehicle is what is deemed suitable.
Give them a call to discuss it and apply. Even if they say no they will help you find a car that is suitable with as low an AP as possible. Hope this helps! Good luck.
