Tell the bank that you accept their payment as part payment without prejudice and that you will reclaim the remainder through court. And then do exactly that!
    Reclaimed thanks to this site:
£175 Abbey Mortgage Repayment Fee, £170.03 Capital One Bank Charges £418.07 Lloyds TSB Bank Charges, £2,671.55 Mis-sold Endowment Policy, all for OH

Its possible that no one was able to help with your query. Its also possible that your query slipped down the queue of questions and onto the second page of the forum before it was answered and it wasnt seen by anyone who could help. There could be any number of reasons but please dont take it personally and welcome to the forum :)

There isnt any protocols about introducing yourself but for the most part we have manners and use them so dont be offended at no reply.

With regard to your problem. I assume that they have made a payment into the account without informing you and you dont know what to do next. On that assumption I would advise to write (never ever telephone ) and accept it as part settlement without prejudice and advise that you will continue to reclaim the remainder in court.

Alternatively, as its such a low amount, you can reject it entirely and give them another chance to settle...perhaps for an amount you will accept...before proceeding to send a LBA (letter before action) and on to court.

    :)

thankyou takes me so long to type i think maybe it ended up 4 pages away...
so i contact the bank and ask for a more reasonable settlement if no joy then court

Yes you can carry on regardless, its a pitiful settlement offer and they know it. They may recall your overdraft and take the refund against it but you can challenge that if/when it happens, maybe. It depends on your circumstances really.

    Hi Steve,

I dont have a answer to your charges question but I wanted to say dont worry. Everyone was new here at some time or other. You aren't doing anything wrong but you may find it helpful if you post your questions in the thread which relates to your Bank.

i.e. If you Bank with Barclays look for the Barclays Bank thread etc & post your questions there.

    Good Luck
Thanks to all who post comps :A :T
