I am very pleased with the Hudl, it does have GPS where the Tab 3 does not appear to have.
Whichever one you choose here is some info.
For emails ignore the installed program and use K9 which is much easier to use especially if deleting multiple messages,
Firefox and Dolphin browsers (you need to download) are better than default browser supplied.
On Dolphin you can install Flashplayer addon (Google for How) which is useful.
If you are interested in SatNav then Navfree is quite good,(Tablet must have GPS, BUT if not, there is a way of using a Bluetooth GPS external one) and does not need to be connected to net to use, map downloads are free.
Ask around to see if anyone you know has either of these models and how they like/dis-like - both would do what you want, but the Hudl has the edge on price.0 -
I sent the Hudl back...instant refund no hassle. The keyboard was wonky or I was handling it wrong. First attempt at using a tablet, would get a larger size screen next time.0

I sent two Hudl's back, both with the same unresponsive screen issue, got a full refund the second time. I have read that there is supposed to be a patch in development for the problem, but I wouldn't risk buying one again. No idea about the Tab 3, if I was considering a 7" tablet again I'd probably be spending a bit more and buy a new model Nexus 7.0

I have a Hudl & a galaxy tab 3 10.5 inch.
Bought the Hudl originally mainly to read daily newspapers but found the screen a bit too small to read comfortably without enlarging the text, so purchased the larger galaxy tab 3.
I find the Hudl operating system a bit more user friendly & I like the fact that you have quick access to settings from any screen just by sliding your finger down right hand side of screen.
Having said that my tablet has the same fault as alot of reviewers have complained in that the left hand side of the screen often freezes & you have to either rotate it or switch it on & off to unfreeze it.I should have taken it back but having decided I needed a larger screen I didn't bother as it fits in my handbag to carry around & i mainly use it as an ebook reader with the Kindle app,to carry photos & play youtube relaxation videos to send me to sleep!!
To sum up if the Hudl screen was larger & did not freeze I would be highly satisfied with it.
If you are wanting a tablet for indoor use only I would certainly recommend a larger screen & I can't really think of any bad points against the Galaxy Tab 3. (there is a very nice case on Amazon to fit it-supplied by Morfred £11.87 including postage)0 -
Got a 7'' Tab 3 for my 5 1/2 year old daughter around January and took it back the day after. It was really unresponsive and crashed often when paying games (which is what she wanted it for). No idea if it was just this one or if this is a common fault.
Also wasnt' too impressed with the screen as it is really low res. In our case we spent the extra £60 and got her a Nexus 7 (already had one).
Not sure what a hudl is like as I have never used one.0 -
If you look at the various reviews the Hudl comes out much better than the Tab which is inferior technically in most areas0

HUDL's do seem to be a bit fragile for some.
Have a look at the Tab3 8" rather than the 7" the 1,280 x 800 screen is glorious and far more colourful and brighter than the HUDL. Good size for browsing too.
Tesco in store are doing the 8" Tab at £199 but with a £60 gift voucher back at the moment. I don't know the terms of the voucher but presume its to spend at Tesco so could be a trolley of food. £139 effectively for this tablet is a very good deal.0 -
