Eclipse 2006

After suffering cloudy skies in Cornwall 2000 and South Africa 2002 I am determined to see a total eclipse of the sun.
There is one on March 29th 2006, which passes through west Africa, Libya, Egypt and on to Turkey.
Ideally I would go to Egypt as I have always wanted to go there anyway, but the eclipse is only visible in the very north-western desert.
Does anyone have any suggestions about making my own way around Egypt?
I do not fancy paying thousands of pounds to go with an organised tour operator which offers 'numbers limited to no more than 75 people!' (yuk).
Is anyone else planning a similar trip?

I was in Austria for the August 1999 eclipse
Not sure I'd make a special trip to see another one - but hope you have a great time :T0 -
I am considering a trip to SIDE in Turkey for this event. May be easier to get to \around than Egypt.
I saw the eclipse in Austria in 1999, a unique event but for non astrologers not worth splashing out too much dough for IMHO.0
