Spare Toyota Key needed

Just bought a Toyota Corolla (06) and it only comes with one key... Just had a look and it seems that a second key might cost £200?!?!
We only have one car between the two of us so really 2 keys are extra handy. Any idea how to get one a bit more reasonable?

It's a keyless start thing, sorry not sure of the proper description but I don't need a key cutting I need a fob thing.0

Try your local specialist automotive locksmith; they can often provide and program an OEM fob/key at lower cost than a dealer. Also try ringing around a number of dealers, and play them off, you'll save a bit like that.
If it were a key, Timpsons wouldn't get my recommendation as unfortunately they usually only clone your existing key rather than programming a new one to the car. Not a problem in many cases, but if for some reason the car's electronics decide not to accept the unique immobiliser code from the key, they'll both stop working rather than only one.
Moral of the story here is never buy a modern car without at least two keys/fobs. If you lose one/drop it and damage it/wash it the cost of getting back on the road can be pretty steep...0 -
