Hi all
After reading martins email about reclaiming mis sold packaged bank accounts I realised I had a very good case, in 2006 my husband and i applied for a loan with lloyds , at the time we had a select account which cost us £5 a month fee.
we were told we would only get the loan if we upgraded to a platinum account which we did costing us £17 per month fees,we have now found out this was not the case and we didnt need the account to get the loan. we have never used any of the benefits apart from claiming once for a mobile phone that was stolen in 2007. the travel insurance isnt relevant as i have a medical condition not covered by this but was not made aware of this when we agreed to upgrading.
Anyway yesterday I sent an email saying I thought I had been mis sold the platinum account and within an hour had a phone call saying they were looking into it.
Today the lady rung to tell me they agreed I had been mis sold and that I would of been better off staying on the select account so are refunding the difference of what i have paid for the platinum account since 2006 to what i would of been paying for the select account, plus 8% interest and £25 goodwill gesture.
my question is the lady sounded quite unsure if I would except this or not and im wondering if i should try and get all the fees back rather than the difference , the select account is not even a product available to new customers anymore and not sure when it stopped.
I dont want to be greedy but just want to know if this is correct for being mis sold something as I have no experience of reclaiming anything before and i have read many stories where people have got full refunds but they dont mention if they were on a fee free account before upgrading?
any helpful info greatly appreciated
