My car was driven into whilst stationary and parked in a Morrison's car park. I had to tell my insurance company, who marked it as a no fault incident. It didn't affect my premium or no claims bonus.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

The answer depends on your driveway. If it is a driveway where the public are able to access it then it could be classed as being part of the highway (see https://www.gov.uk/using-the-road-159-to-203/the-road-user-and-the-law). If it is not accessible to the public (gates etc) then it is not. If it is accessible then you should report it as a no fault accident. If it is not accessible then you probably don't have to report it as most insurance companies don't cover loss on private land etc.

Also, I doubt Asda claimed through then insurance, as their excess is probably quite high so wouldn't be worth doing.

Not sure asda would have paid an excess since the claim was by a third party (even if asda was the ones handling communications)

Only RTO insurance doesnt cover accidents on private land. Never heard of any insurer offering RTO cover to personal lines customers and even in commercial lines its very rare.

Why on earth do you think that most insurance companies dont cover incidents on private land?

The reason I say that is because, growing up in a rural environment, when people used to use their vehicles for hare coursing and lambing etc on the fields they used to have to push/tow the vehicles onto the road if they got involved in an accident as their insurance wouldn't cover them on the private fields.
