Offer accepted! BUT vendors have only started viewing-how long should I wait?

This situation, although very typical, is somewhat "how long is piece of string" type case.
Finding a suitable house may take several months! You may insist that vendors move to rented accommodation if they can't find something in few week's time.
I have faced similar cases where vendors couldn't find something in few months and simply pulled out of sale.
I suggest that you continue to look into other houses - especially ones which are chain free.
IMO, a few weeks is way too quick. Unless a very quick move was specified from the beginning i'd say at least 6-8 weeks would have to pass before putting any pressure on the vendors.0 -
We had an offer accepted on a house at the end of October and are still waiting for our vendors find somewhere. We haven't paid any fees yet for mortgage/survey etc.
The issue seems to be that although our vendors are putting in a lot of offers on properties, they seem to be losing out every time. My main concern is that they are going for properties over their price bracket and hoping to get a deal, but most properties are now going for asking price as there is very little supply.
We are FTB's and are totally fed up with our rental property so we can't wait to move. We have actually viewed a couple of other properties, but not found anything that wouldn't feel like a compromise next to the one we want.If it doesn’t move, and it should, use WD-40. If it moves, and it shouldn’t, use duct tape!0 -

Finally got round to speaking with halifax, they mentioned I would still have to pay the surveyor fees if I wanted to start applying so decided just to leave it in end.
At present the property is still on zoopla but not on EA's site (never has been), going to speak with EA to see if they can take off zoopla just in case! A week has gone and already I'm waiting hoping the vendors find something before that halifax offer finishes in beginning of may.
I'm starting to think that perhaps I should look back online for other properties in case this one takes too long. We would like to move by summer0 -

I find it so strange that we're in the exact same position as you, practically to the day! We're a week into our property purchase too. We're FTB's with an offer accepted on a house, but the vendors are an elderly couple who are moving way south and can't start looking until April - we think they're going for a new build as they were told it wouldn't be ready until beginning of April and they'll probably want to go down for a weekend and do a few viewings at once considering the distance. We've got our solicitors instructed and are also getting a mortgage from Halifax, I think we're going to wait until they found somewhere before applying in full, but are going to let the mortgage advisor know we have an accepted offer. Ours is also on Zoopla still but hoping it will go off soon!0 -
