Hello All,
a few years ago, Sainsburys were doing there basics 300ml showergel for 10p a bottle.
I purchased loads of this stuff, and now I have run dry. I went into the sainsbury's store today and discovered the same brand has now increased to 35p a bottle for 300ml.
Asda is currently doing there showergel for 50p for 500ml.
Anyone know of any cheaper alternatives or is Asda the cheapest?

Doing the maths then Asda is cheaper but come on 35p if you like the product is well worth it.

wish my daughter would use 35 pence shower gel. She used Molton Brown which is a lot dearer than 35 pence. lol
PS: I don't but it she does.0 -
Tesco Everyday Value Bath and shampoo, at 46p for 500 mls. Not much of a saving but I too remember when these were 12p!!!0

Same value as Asda.
You mean "cost". You cannot say anything about "value" without doing your own test of both products.0 -
There are a few cheaper alternatives:
1. Use bath foam to wash yourself instead. 40p for 1L at Tesco - http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=256724713
2. Use bath soap to wash yourself instead. 15p per bar - http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=268305805
3. Add a bit of water to some styling gel and make your own shower gel. 15p per 300ml tub (neat) - http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=255573506:grouphug:Official MSE canny forumite and HUKD VIP badge member

I was going to suggest soap as well. OH uses soap, I use any Lavender shower product. And cream bath as liquid hand wash if that helps.0

Use bar soap, it's better for your skin than detergent anyway.
My DS isn't convinced of this though so I buy him Lidl shower gel. He likes the "posh" stuff at 69p per 500 ml but there's far cheaper big bottles at about 60p a litre, iirc.Val.0
