I have attached a SSD and been loading it up as wanted so I can make an image, no problems so far.
When I opened the desktop there was a spare plug for a second hard drive, but no spare cable to motherboard, but spare slots. Ordered a cable came today, attached the spare plug to the original HDD, and the new one to a spare slot on the motherboard, switched on and it started bleeping immediately.
Disconnected the old drive, and it booted from the SSD OK. put the plugs onto to old HDD and using the new cable again it booted OK.
I am sure the desktop may be fed up of me playing by now, but any ideas why it is bleeping at me?

No idea, presuming your cables are all connected correctly.
I suppose the computer might be confused as to which drive to boot to now? But that wouldn't stop the BIOS screens from showing.
I suppose there's a remote possiblity that the power supply can't cope with the extra drive, but that's unlikely, unless it's faulty.0 -
Yes EB, didn't make sense to me, when done this before was before Satay HDrives, and SSD, had to leave it yesterday, but will have another attempt today. Thanks.

Check where the drives are connecting on the motherboard to see if there is a port number printed on the board - may show as SATA0, SATA1 etc, I tend to like to have my main drive showing in the lower number..
Then when you power on, check what keyboard sequence you need to get into the bios settings - this will show if the bios is set to scan for new drives or whether its only allowing what has already been set.. That way can see what the bios has picked up and most importantly which one it is trying to boot from (this will show other Usb's that are connected as well)..0 -
Mmm, satay...
Sounds like you might have dislodged other cables when you were swapping drives around? Have a good hoke around and make sure everything's secure (the voice of bitter experience...)0 -
Must have just have one not quite seated, as now re-attached and it booted OK. Now need to check out if the TV adapter works, and I'm cooking with gas.
Thanks again
