See below full error;-

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'pop.gmail.com', Server: 'pop.gmail.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

I've done system restore, my anti virus does NOT scan all e-mails, firewall doesn't seem to be stopping it-all files compacted & excess (only 1 month messages left) messages permanently deleted. Checked my GMAIL online-sent a test to myself-its fine. So outlook Express is the issue (configured to download gmail). Funnily enoug it started this am & was 'duplicating' a groupon offer-did it 12 times?Since then-if I press 'send & receive' it starts the process 'ie says 'downloading 34 messages' THEN the error with the above dialogue comes in. Have re-checked correct password is in account options in outlook express ....any ideas please? I HATE USING web based mail-much prefer express!

edit!!!!!!!!!! All thats 'coming in' is this blasted Groupon e-mail-same one-over & over! have unsubscribed to groupon but can't receive anything else!

Have you tried going into gmail via a web browser and deleting the Groupon email, as well as some others you would delete, then open outlook express to pull down the rest. It may be a single email causing the issue, so removing it should allow the rest to be downloaded normally.

Don't know why this happens, but I have had it happen many times, even tried system restore etc. I started by clicking the send/receive button then click cancel, so it would download a few emails at a time until the culprit was found. Seemed to work for me as far as I can remember, but has been a while since I last used it.

No problem. I know how frustrating it was until I sussed it out.
