Due to the cost of SKY Sports, coupled with my move to a new apartment, I decided to change suppliers from SKY to BT. I did so in response to advertisements by BT in respect of BT Infinity ... "free BT Sports channels". Not difficult ... you would think.
This is what I ordered from BT. The transfer of my SKY telephone to BT with a move to my new Apartment. BT Infinity Broadband, with free BT Sports channels.
I was told that I would have to agree to a "temporary" telephone number at my new address and once SKY released my original number back to BT Openreach in would be "claimed" and changed, "no problem" were the words used.
I was told that I would receive Sky Sports for free as I was ordering the top of the range, fastest and most expensive BT Infinity offering.
To date (3 weeks later) I still have the "temporary" telephone number and have been advised that it might not be possible to have my original SKY telephone number.
BT Infinity works fine but I cannot get BT Sports on my Freeview system? Apparently I have to purchase BT TV and pay an extra £7 per month so that I can view the TV channels that I already have for "free" so that I can get the BT Sports Channels for "free". You couldn't make it up if you tried.
I have lived on the telephone over the past 2 weeks trying to resolve these issues. I cannot tell you how many times I have had to recount my story, from scratch. Every time I call I am kept waiting and eventually I speak to yet another support person, not always even in the UK. The same situation. I will register a complaint because I can't do anything to help you.
I will keep you all posted although I see that I am far from alone in having major problems dealing with this over complex company. I have asked for the Chairman's telephone number but apparently, if he has one, and it works, it is ex-directory.

You will be getting the BT Sports channels "free" as part of your broadband package. Just not on Freeview, where they are not available0
