Really annoying popups!

All of a sudden our computer screen is being plagued by popups - bottom and rh side, and also when going to other pages it seems to force open a 'take our survey' page every time.

Have done a system restore to a point a week or so ago before this started, but still coming up. Each time I do a scan it is identifying a medium risk ad-something, which I quarantine and then remove, but still happening.

What am I doing wrong?

I seem to be getting a lot more now as well. Win 7, IE11 ... I haven't changed any settings as far as I'm aware and it's bloody annoying.

[Could apply to both previous posters]

Have you tried running the free version of Malwarebytes' AntiMalware? Make sure you choose the right download, and, on installation, don't choose the free trial of the Pro version unless you want it.

Set it to do a Quick Scan first to pull out anything obvious (if present) and then the Full scan. Scan time depends on the amount of disk space used by files, and it could be an hour or more.

MBAM doesn't always pick up these hijack viruses (yes, they are viruses because they self replicate). 2 good programs to get rid of these are RogueKiller and ADWCleaner.

How do I know you're not a hijacker? It's a paranoid world we live in these days eh? :)

Maybe, but MBAM is a good start.
