New windows - price guide?

Hi all,

My house still has the original wood frame double glazed windows from 20 years ago and would like to just change the ones for the bedroom at the moment but have no idea how much it might cost.
I'm probably going to ring a few places but just to get a rough idea of how much it might be would be good as I don't want to call in complete ignorance to find out it would be way above my price range.
The current windows are 3 single panes with the two side windows opening. I'm considering a setup with two small top windows either side with a fixed pane in the middle.
Apparently it's too difficult to change the misted panes in the wooden frames I have at the moment.
Just an idea of how much I might expect to pay would be great. I do have two other rooms with windows to replace but just wanted to do one for now.

no idea without sizes and the style you are wanting would fail building regs because the windows you say you have now have side openers which allow emergency fire escape top openers dont

Many thanks, I can confirm the width from wall to wall and it was 174.5cm, the height from the windowsill to the top was 116cm. I think it would be good to have the two side panes opening and small window possibly at top of middle.

that size and style id say around £420 ish

That's great, thanks. I was thinking it might have been something like £250 so that helps me budget better.

Cheers for the link, looks a bit more expensive than what I was thinking. I notice the prices there also don't include fitting so would have to consider that as well.

If you want to stick to wood you need to find a local window joiner, who will be reasonably priced and will offer you a good service (will probably not be cheapest and you have to weigh up service versus price). They will not have flashy web pages and might not have a web page at all
