    Well certainly a newbie couldn't easily install Arch. But if someone else set it up with everything that was needed, it would actually be fine for a newbie, provided someone was available to update it every now and again.

    But those type of distros aren't meant for a newbie anyway.
    Something like Linux Mint is no harder to install, work or understand than Windows.
