It is the salesmans job to evaluate and quote using his skills, and if he said it could be done, its not your fault it can't.

I would write to them and keep a copy. Cancel the order and demand a full refund of your deposit. There is still a cooling off period resulting in the salesman coming to your home to sell.
You are not at fault and if they start this game ow, what are they going to be like once the job starts.

4x4 = 16 sq mtrs, divide your costs by 16 = sq mtr price, multiply that by 12 (4 x 3=12) and that's the price you should be spending.

The contract you have with them is for 16 sq mtrs and void if they can not supply it as per order.

If they tell you that the plastic has been allocated, this is complete rubbish.

Also, conservatories are often built over foul drain manholes, it just means the floor has to have an access to the drain, quite doable

Thanks for all your advice here. i think its time to ditch the company and look at other options !

Most glass units are Low E glass filled with Argon gas. Argon is the cheapest gas that units are filled with. I'm currently paying £2.50 (per square metre of glass unit) for Argon gas so a back of a fag paper calculation is its only costing them £30-00.......


Other gases used are Krypton which is much better but more expensive and Xenon which is best but very,very,very expensive.

I have read up a little on the argon glass option/offer. As you said, its hardly compensation ....... I am going to cancel the order whilst (I hopefully) still can

Thanks for this, I am going to cancel and the advice you have given has helped me word the letter to them.
the cost of the 4 x 4 m conservatory was agreed at £10.000, so with thwe reduction in size, that should now be £7.500 ....... so much for the "argon glass" offer of comensation which Leveller (above) said he is paying £2.50 per sq meter ...... let battle begin !

Just make it very clear that the deposit was paid for a 4 x 4m conservatory, if they are unable to honour the contract then you want the full deposit refunded in full within 14 days.
