Service: Tyres 30% Worn

Hi All,
Had my Juke serviced at Nissan for the first time last week, all hunky dory, with one minor caveat - they've marked the front tyres as being 30% worn. I wouldn't mind, except the tyres were less than a week old and had covered < 100 miles since being put on.
I can't decide whether I should moan about this or not...part of me wonders if they're that slapdash about every aspect of the service - and when they charge £200 for a service, I kind of expect a little attention to detail...
So, would you say something?

Wouldn't bother. Its not like you are going to buy your tyres there anyway!0

Was it the same brand and model of tyre you put on? Maybe the tread depth on your new ones are 30% less than that of the ones Nissan fit as standard?0

Two years in a row I got warnings from VW that my tyres were heavily worn and whilst legal needed replacing ASAP, even though I'd done 10,000 miles in that year.
After the second year I had them replaced via BlackCircles and the chap at the local garage doing the fitting said there was still plenty of tread left and if he were me he wouldnt be replacing them yet - had already bought the tyres so did anyway.
Always skeptical about warnings/ heads up you get from garages, especially ones that charge silly money to fix the issues they are warning you about.0 -
Some years ago I had my car serviced & MOT'd at a local dealer, they reported that all 4 tyres needed replacing and quoted tread in x mm on all 4 tyres individually (I can't remember exactly, it was about 15 years ago!) They wanted me to buy 4 new tyres, I told them I'd bring the car back as I couldn't afford new tyres that day, they said make sure it is within the next 3-4 weeks otherwise it would be dangerous.
I had the tyres looked at at the local tyre place the next day, who said they were all fine. I had the tyres checked again intermittently over the next year and was told tyres still fine each time.
The following year, I took the car back to be serviced/MOT'd at the same dealership as the previous year. I got a 'phone call early afternoon to say that there was something wrong with the brakes (about £300 worth of 'wrong') and that the work needed to be done immediately. My DH had had an accident a few weeks before and wasn't being paid and I was a SAHM at the time, no way did we have a spare £300 knocking about. While I was thinking about the brakes problem I asked how the tyres were - they replied that they were all fine and quoted me tread depths for each tyre well above what they had quoted me the previous year.
I asked them how it was possible that my tyres had 'regrown' tread over the previous year and pointed out that as I plainly couldn't trust their 'advice' about the tyres last year, how could I be sure that what they were telling me now about the brakes was correct?
The chap on the other end of the phone went very quiet. He told me he'd have to check something and get back to me.
About an hour later I got a 'phone call from the manager apologising and offering to fit the new brake parts free of charge as a gesture of goodwill.
Needless to say, I never used that dealership again.
Like you say, measuring tread depth isn't taxing, if they can't get that right........Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endQuidquid Latine dictum sit altum videtur0 -
Did they do a diagonal wheel change during the service and record the tread depths after the service ? Are the rear tyres the original front ones ?0

Interesting question, tbh, I've not looked. All four tyres as just listed as having the same measurements all across the tyre (something like 6-7-6 iirc) and listed as 30% worn, even though the fronts are brand new and the rears have been on for a year (16.5k)....0 -

Yes but are the tyres on the OP's car directional ?0
