GMail Nightmare

Options
I just can't get to grips with Gmail at all!

Iv'e managed to set up a filter thingy but loads of random stuff goes in to it, I try to scan the titles but I have a good chance of missed WEM's as I don't check them properly!

How have you all got your Gmail Filters set up so you can best sort potential wins from pointless spam?

i don't bother with filters - i just delete what i dont want
that way you don't miss anything
  • I know that's the easiest option isn't it lol, but I get quite a lot and to go in and read each email takes ages. I must have been a bit lax on the tick boxes somewhere even though I am pretty sure I get them most of the time!

Me too - I don't trust filters! I check my emails regularly throughout the day so never have 100's to go through, unless I have been away on holiday.
:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea

I've just set mine up so that any emails that mention the word winner or congratulations are starred. You get a lot that are not WEMs, but it does highlight them so that you can check them.

    Hmmmm, lots of emails

I went away for 7 days and came back to over 24,000 emails !!!
easiest way is to use the search function for keywords such as "congratulations" or "winner" etc

I do that too on gmail with a filter for win, winner, congratulations - I also have them marked as important so they go to the top of the inbox as well as being starred. Very few end up being flagged wrongly apart from the best loved emails.

Have only had a couple that didn't look like WEM's that I was lucky to pick up.

I try and delete the others as they come in if I'm online. I have it set so the first portion of the email shows but I don't read them apart from the snippet.
  • I have mine so any with 'win', 'prize' or 'congratulations' are starred. Tbh that still means about half the nonsense emails I get are starred. It probably doesn't help much, as I still just scan for potential WEMs and delete the vast majority without opening!

I always check. Sometimes the filters don't work so I quick scan my emails.

I've had one which said you entered the prize draw and have first place so I need your details.

    :)

BUT - I have one with congratulations and one with Winner.

then filters on both with Win, you won, You have won, winner, congrats, congratulations.

But I always have a quick scan on my mail on my iPhone :) x
