Other uses for pasta sauce

Hi

I had it in my head that we were having simple pasta with tomato sauce tonight, however I'd forgotten that my OH has bolognese for lunch today. He says he doesn't mind eating pasta twice in one day but I feel like I can do better!

So, my question to you is - what else can I make with this simple tomatoey sauce that will be ready in 15 minutes start to finish? So far I have thought of this:

Menemen - would need to buy feta cheese and I can't see my OH thinking it sounds nice!

Chilli - but I don't think the flavours would have long enough to develop

Any other ideas? Thanks x

we have a reasonably plain tomato sauce (well we add basil and a few other herby bits) with baked fish and rice - delish but then of course you might not have fish in!

Sorry I can't be more help but following a lack of inspiration I'd probably end up having pasta again and scratching it up as something to remember for next time!

Haha kwmlondon thanks for that! It has onions and mushrooms in though, not sure that's very tasty...

Pizza - would I not need to let the dough prove? I won't be home till 6pm and need to cook and eat pretty quickly. I have two tortilla wraps actually, I could make mini pizzas with salad - we have chorizo too... ooh. Will need to get some cheese but that's ok.

    Thanks x

PS we don't have a freezer.

I do a chicken recipe with passata that would work, might also be OK for pork chops.

Brown the chicken breasts, put in a casserole dish. Add sliced onions, peppers, mushrooms, maybe some olives. I add a tsp of thyme as well and seasoning. Pour over sauce and bake for as long as it takes your meat to cook. Stir a couple of times to make sure vegetables are under the sauce.

Serve with rice or a jacket and maybe some green veg (I like my veg:D).
  • Make a ratatouille type sauce with vegetables and serve it with chicken?
