A question regarding warranties...

Outside the first year, what percentage of roadside assistance calls would you suppose arise from warranty-claimable manufacturing defects...?
I'd hazard a guess that it's way less than a quarter. Single digits wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.
Quite a few more than single digits, I worked for VW for many years both at FD level and at Wymbush, with usual DPF;s, injectors, egr valve/cooler, 1.4 engine failures(you would love the reason for this failure)waterpump shearing..thats without going into the DSG faults, alot of people will see a light on and want the car recovering...even though it may be driveable
The question is, for the sake of a few quid why not get homestart or Will VW stop being tight !!!!!! and cover their product...what would RAC charge them for an extra year..thats more "single figures" per car0 -
For the future, get yourself some breakdown insurance with homestart. If you are happy about paying at the time and claiming back later then Autoaid is probably still the cheapest (£39 per year).0

Now compare that to the number of calls for flat batteries, flat tyres, lost keys, misfuelling, collision damage...0 -

Point taken and logged
I still think they should cover for all purchases not just for the higher end of the market Phaeton and Touareg buyer, its not like VW are the cheapest cars on the market.
They "apparently" excel in reliability, well prove that by covering all buyers.
They should give customer satisfaction knowing if they do lose their keys or my 79year old Nan gets a puncture help will arrive, it was 1year 2 days ago they gave VW £20k+ of their hard earned cash.
It is times like this that the op could have second thoughts about buying another VW, due to this experience I wouldnt be surprised if this isnt in their next buying decision questions.
Gone are the days of German Quality, its now German Quantity, that goes for both customer service and build0
