HELP - just got iphone 4s. How to use!!

Hello all

I have got an iphone 4s today.

I have managed to put my contacts in....but that is it!
It won't make calls and I'm not sure how to use data, I have internet at home...do I use that Wi fi?? How do I use internet I'm on a bus, say?

Any help would be much appreciated as I am very untechnical!

Phone needs a sim card in, needs to be on a network the phone is locked to if its not unlocked.

Then you need a data allowance on your contract or pay as you go. That's how you can access internet outside of home. Use your wi-fi while you're at home to save on using up your data allowance.

    Turn data updates off.

This is going to end in tears.
  • I have unlimited data on my contract.

It says no service at the top of the screen so I cannot even make calls

Is this is second hand phone? Is it locked to a network other than the one your SIM is from?
  • No its brand new - upgraded my contract, so have kept my number - but have got a new sim in the iphone.

Well if it's showing "No Service" contact your provider, because either the phone or the SIM is faulty or misconfigured.
  • ok - thank you for your help!

  • Your provider will need to deactivate your old SIM and activate your new one. You need to let them know that you are ready for this.
