FTB From start to finish experience

I have been looking on here throughout the process of buying a terraced house in the NE of England.

This forum has some of the most useful threads on the internet and some of the best people to ask.

The Property had no Chain and was a reasonable price of £67000

First week: Applied for a mortgage in principle.

Second week: waiting for MP offer and looking for a house.

Third week: Mortgage in principle given and viewed property’s.

Fourth week: Made an offer with request to take it off the market.

Fifth week: Applied for a full mortgage offer.

Sixth week: waiting and contacted solicitor.

Seventh week: Mortgage offered, solicitor arranges searches etc.

Eighth week: Home buyer survey taken.

Ninth week: waiting and sorting building/life insurance.

Tenth week: Signing of contracts and completion date set.

Eleventh week: By the end of this week, completion has finished.

This was a quick skip over the key points.

What would I do differently? Probably make an offer after the survey. Make a better offer.

Stressful? Not as much as some people make out. The most stressful time was completion day waiting for the money to transfer.

I was quite lucky that there was no surprises.
