Insulating wallpaper. Is it worth it?

Hi guys

I've been considering put up insulating wallpaper at our house to help keep the heat in and the time time will soon be approaching where there will be an opportunity to start doing this. There are no wall cavities to fill to improve this and the building has old Victorian sash windows which we cannot easily replace due to be in a conservation area (long term we are considering secondary glazing).

I was wondering if others out there have already done this and how much benefit it was to you? I realise that until we can sort out the glazing issue any benefits will probably be minimal but figure we had just as well do it while we can in preparation for being able to complete the project in years to come.

Thanks!

I used this about twenty years ago, did it help ? difficult to calculate. But the walls felt a LOT warmer to the touch, it covered up a lot of bumps and dents, all for a very small outlay. The stuff was very easy to put up.
So a number of pluses and I can't think of any problems.

ps you need to buy some new Stanley blades !

Brill thanks, that's certainly reassuring. The house is semi-detached so with 2 exterior walls for each room there's a good chance it will be helpful! Out of interest, are you still in the same property and has the the same wallpaper been in place for the full 20 year duration?!

Sorry , moved at least four times since then .
And the wall paper would certainly have been changed a few times, if I had stayed. Putting up the insulated is even simpler than normal wall paper, Just overlap, run knife down the middle and remove the under piece, perfect join every time. ( using a very sharp knife)

Wow, that kitchen picture makes me realise how little of a challenge ours was when we moved here!

  • I have used this wallpaper on all of my outside walls and on one connecting wall with the neighbour.

I found the walls a lot warmer to touch, and this along with my luxury underlay and carpet feel the room warm enough even in winter that I don't often even have the need for my heating to be on. Cosy!!!

But wallpaper before I moved in (and took out the secondary glazing)
so cannot comment on the "before and after"

And I also put the foil wallpaper on the wall behind my radiators.
Looking forward to the day I have nothing left to list on eBay
