New Kitchen - Rough Price

Hi All

I have a square 16m2 kitchen. I am looking at getting a new one and am going to go to Magnet, Homebase, Independants etc etc. The Kitchen will include an induction hob, extractor double oven and American style fridge freezer. I want to be aware of a ball park figure as I'm sure the big boys will try to rip me off. I'm looking at the 10-12K mark for a fair price, is this plausable? Or am I too low?

Advise from people in the trade would be much appreciated.

It depends on what quality of units & appliances you're going to be looking for. If just run of the mill stuff then you might just do it, but if quality stuff from the higher end of the market then you'll be looking at a higher figure.

Another thing that makes a difference is the actual amount of labour that will be needed, ie, new electrical sockets, re-siting gas pipes etc.

The big boys as you call them won't be looking to rip you off. There are a few places that will only sell to trade, where the prices will be more favourable, but B&Q, Homebase etc. will be basically giving you the same price that they give to everybody.

Buying your appliances from the kitchen supplier is always going to be more costly. Shop around & source your own to make some real savings. You can do the same with unit handles too, probably get them for at least a third of the price that the shop will charge.

roughly how many units, of what width
dishwasher ? washing machine ? extractor fan?


I have a kitchen a bit smaller than yours, the units alone (of a decent-ish quality) are coming to 8k. I am going for NEFF double oven, combi oven/micro, warming drawer, DW, hob, extractor - that will be another 5k. So, I'm looking at 15k (with fitting) for a mid to highish end finish. 10k may be pushing it, but alot of it is dependent on the appliances you choose

Hi Thanks for your reply. I'm guessing around 16 units but this may increase if we can get an island in, I also would like a better worktop than laminate, currently looking at Magnet gloss middle range kitchen.

I have a freestanding washer/dryer and dishwasher and I'm looking at sourcing my own induction hob/American FF/double oven & extractor allowing £4k for those items.

So I'm after a ballpark figure for kitchen, worktop, sink & tap and fitting hopefully around the 10/12k mark, am I way out?

Ok, I bought a full new kitchen on Saturday. Solid oak cabinets, 15 units, 4 drawers, a massive larder cupboard, under counter integrated fridge and freezer (aeg), integrated dishwasher (Electrolux), a rangemaster range cooker and hood. HD laminate worktop. £8000 without fitting and thats not taking into account new flooring or tiles.

This was in the Wickes sale.
