I am presently going through a divorce. I am living in the marital home and own another property., which are both mortgaged. These are both currently on the market. I am looking for work but at the moment I have no income. Am I entitled to income support?

For a start your equity in your other property will be classed as income whether or not you make anything from it. If you have any savings they'll be taken into account too.
Firstly though there's strict rules on who can get income support. Do you have children under 5? Are you a carer? If you're on no income I suspect not, therefore you're not eligible.
Is there a reason you think Income Support rather than Job Seekers Allowance?0 -
Do you meet the criteria for income support?
https://www.gov.uk/income-support
If you don't have kids under 5 or serious caring responsibilities, its likely you will be entitled to Jobseekers Allowance, not income support. Check the gov.uk website for info on the types of benefits (although these can be income based and you may get nothing due to proceeds from your house sales)
Oh and entitledto have a benefit calculator, should tell you what you can claim.0 -
Income Support is for specific groups of people - e.g a single parent with a child under 5 years old.
It would be helpful if you could give further details.
Are you living alone?
Age?
If you are on your own and able to work then you can apply for JSA. This may be contribution based(not means tested) if you have worked during the last two tax years or income based if you have little savings.
If you are eligible for income based JSA (means tested) then you may be eligible for council tax support and Support for mortgage interest (after 13 weeks)
If your properties are up for sale then they would be disregarded as capital for 26 weeks (or longer if there are special circumstances)
Is there a mortgage on your current property? Is it joint? Is your ex paying anything to you?
Sorry for all the questions but need more information to give a detailed reply.0 -

On the op's other thread she says she is a registered childminder with children in her care, and asking about WTC....so she wouldn't be able to claim JSA. Can't understand why she is asking about income support and claiming she has no income though?0
