Cancellation of car insurance policy - charged twice!!

I have just cancelled my car insurance policy with One Quote Direct as I bought a new car last week and the quote they gave for insuring this was in excess of £300 more than the cheapest quote.

Whilst I anticipated a cancellation charge, I did not expect £50, but looking at the T&C's, this is what's stated.

However, my main bone of contention is that they are stating that not only will I be charged £50 by One Quote Direct, but I will also be charged £53 by Allianz who are the underwriters!! So a grand total of £103 to simply cancel the insurance. I have looked at the T&Cs and this is not made clear at all - it simply suggested that there will be one cancellation fee.

Can anyone advise on whether they can really charge twice, and whether I have recourse to the ombudsman? I paid £260 for the policy, which I have used for 41 days, of which I will receive £123 after cancellation - which seems nothing short of scandalous!!:mad::mad::mad:

Lodge a formal complaint that the documents dont say that there are two charges stating you will take it to the ombudsman if you arent happy with the outcome.

It is increasingly common that if you go via an intermediary that both the insurer and the intermediary will have a cancellation fee to be paid.

By the looks of it these are the relevant TOB http://quote.onequotedirect.co.uk/documents/car_TOB.pdf which says:

These amounts are in addition to any fees and/or charges imposed by your insurer.

See they actually add another £25 if you bought via an aggregator and cancel outside of the cooling off period
