Has anyone had a Scantronoic alarm system installed in the last 5 years? if so, could I please have your feedback. I have one installed from 25 years ago at my parents place, still going strong. Now need one for my own home and was looking at the above wired system.
Thx.

Yes, had one professionally installed in previous house. Apart from a problem at the very beginning due to a faulty board, which was replaced swiftly, it was trouble free and reliable. Wireless units were always reliable, and batteries needed replacing after 18 - 24 months.
Liked it so much that I had another professioanlly installed in current house.
If you're going to get a dialler, get the gsm one. The landline one is hit and miss.0 -
did you actually get the ion 40 model or a different one? What would you say was the 3 best features apart from the wireless? I understand you can remote login via the Internet?
Is there an ongoing cost associated with the sim dialler?Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -
Previously I had a 9751 (cant remember if thats the exact model) with a wireless expander. Now I have an ion 40. It has wireless built in, and 24 channels, as I have every door and window alarmed. Main thing I like is that its reliable, and 'just works'. I can partial set at night to arm all the doors and windows, with thr pir's disabled. I also have 2 keypads, so its convenient to arm before going to bed.
Not sure about remote logon from Internet. I believe it can be programmed using ethernet, is that what you mean?
Gsm dialler works with any sim card. I dont have one, so dont know the details.0 -
Yes via Ethernet. When you say every window alarmed, do you mean vibration sensors or magnetic contacts such that if you open the window the alarm goes off? How do you open the windows at night if it is armed?Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0

Magnetic contacts.
Windows closed at night. Only downstairs windows alarmed, and plan is to alarm a couple of upstairs windows which are more easily accessible from the outside.0 -
So if a guest sleeping downstairs and wants to open a window here or one of the easily accessible bedroom windows upstairs wants to open a window at night because its hot, how do they so this without waking you up?
Are these magnetic sensors wired or wireless? Do they ever give you false alarms? Do you have any pressure pads or glass breaking detectors?
Final q on the key pad - is that wired or wireless and is it surface mounted or a nice looking silver one flush in the wall?

Alarm will go off if they open an armed window. You can configure different zones if you want to leave certain windows unarmed.
Wireless sensors. I chose this system again in the new house because of reliability, never had any false alarms.
Keypads are wired and surface mounted. They look quite high tech, but depends on preference I guess. I quite like them. They have a blue illuminated screen with green illuminated buttons.0
