Adware Problem? Help needed

I started a thread earlier to cover this but apparently I shouldn't have labelled it Windows 8 problem, when as it was put, it was probably my own fault! Not that helps at all and isn't the sort of help I think I may have posted but hey were all different.

Anyway it appears that perhaps it was not my fault, this thing can weadle its way in many ways, or could have been on here from purchase.

It is a program called TROVI - a browser hijacker?
How it got on I don't care, what I could do with is some sound advice on how to get rid of it before it causes more damage, which I have read it can/will.

I have tried to find it and uninstall it, its not there!
I have tried to find it in addons and other parts of the browser and its not there.
I have tried to search for it on the C drive and its not there.

Short of a factory reset I do not know and probably understand without some help how to get rid of it. Inever had an issue with it on previus laptops and have done nothing different on this one, the first thing I always do is install Kaspersky and get that up and running. The only things I have downloaded are Firefox and adobe reader, which wasn't already on and WLM but it was here before that.

Kaspersky isn't finding it either, nor the windows malicious software removal tool.

It does exist it is here and I would like to kill it and remove it. If it is going to be technical and you can help me please give me step by step instructions, I am not stupid but not totally computer savvy either.

Thanks in advance;)

You haven't mentioned doing a scan with Malwarebytes?
The free version will be fine, just make sure you untick the option for a free pro trial during the install.
ETA: I see Malwarebytes was suggested in your other thread on this?

Presuming Malwarebytes finds some files to delete, you'll probably then be able to restore your Homepage and default search provider in Firefox.

So after installing the programs mentioned sadly I still had Trovi on my system. So I decided to go for the option of resetting to factory condition and starting again.

I have done the reset and got rid of it thankfully, also managed to get everything transferred accross successfully.:j

thanks to those who tried to help:T

This type of stuff usually comes bundled with (free) software and can be a real pain if a check-box isn't deselected during the installation process.
