    Slings, your general point is fine and valid and some one in their forties will in all probability profit from being equity heavy over the longer term.

    You rather undermine this point by your specific example, comparing equities to lower risk asset classes over a few months is frankly meaningless, you give the impression that without some out performance you'd have bailed from these funds, so crystallising any losses?

    Your actual examples are pretty poor, the funds might have good records but they're not exactly diversified. Smaller companies have had a cracking run over the last couple of years so normal investment theory would suggest a pullback from this sector, normally by rebalancing away and almost certainly not buying into highs.

    I'd agree considering purchases into equities but would want a diversified approach given the OPs relative small weighting to equities currently.

    Interestingly whilst linkers haven't done well, there's still sufficient demand to mean they're not on general sale and people can only roll them over, so there's a weight of opinion that they still offer value at least as part of a portfolio.
