Blackout curtain for small window

I have a small second window in the bedroom of my newly rented property. It measures about 10cmx70cm. The only fitting is a wire for a net curtain and I cannot put anything else up.
As it faces another building, I'd rather not have the neighbours seeing what I'm doing in there.
Can anyone recommend something like a net curtain (in that I can feed it through a wire) but works like a blackout blind? I don't have a sewing machine either, so ideally looking for something "off the shelf" but cheap.

I cant see that you'd get off the shelf....the only way I can see that it can be done fir complete black out it either a hand made on a tension rod or velcro.
You can get off the shelf blackout roller blinds but they let a lot of light in0 -
If you get some balckout fabric you could use WondaWeb 'http://www.amazon.co.uk/Meters-IRON-WONDER-HEMMING-TAPE/dp/B005FEB65O or equivalent to hem it and to make a fold over at the top so you can string it on the wire. You just iron it on so you don't need a sewing machine.
When you say you cannot put anything else up, do you mean the landlord has refused a request to put up a curtain rail or fit a blind, or that the window means it's not practical? If permission has been refused, ave they given you any reason?
Black out fabric is, I think, normally sold as lining fabric but you may be able to find patterned versions if you want. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -
There are these, but probably a bit too expensive for just one small window:

in b&q they sell static cling frosting film. It fixes with a little water to the window pane and would peel off easily and cleanly when you leave.
i have some on my bedroom window for privacy.
Lets see if I can link to the stuff I mean….though I got ours in b&q and there were several designs for a very reasonable price..

Now to start saving...it's a whole new world!!0 -
You could buy a remnant of blackout fabric, and some self sticky velcro, the blackout fabric I have, when cut does not fray, so you do not need to stitch it, and with the sticky back velcro you put one side on the fabric and the other side on the wall.
Hey presto, a blackout curtain/blind which will peel off easy for changing if and when you require.Looking forward to the day I have nothing left to list on eBay0 -
You can buy the blinds in a box individually from Wilkinsons at £5 each although I think they only have them in back.0
