London and Edinburgh Insurance Company now part of Aviva, for older loans.

the insurance company is irrelevant on bank cases.

  • we have been advised by the FOS to claim against the underwriters of the ppi policy because even though we could claim when my husband was off sick having had a heart attack we could not claim when he was out of work because he was self employed. We had a nat west bank loan and a nat west credit . is it the same company for both.

Why have you not just complained directly to Natwest who originally sold you the loan PPI?
Even prior to 2005, Banks already had their own regulation. FOS normally only advises approaching the Underwriter if they have no jurisdiction and cannot themselves adjudicate….

This cannot be the case here, so far more information is required...

Natwest has the liability for the complaint. Not the insurer. Are you sure that the FOS are not telling you to put claim in to the insurer instead of the complaint?

Who has said that he was not covered for being self employed. Whilst there can be restrictions, most PPI does cover self employed.
