First Utility and Ovo - any thoughts?

What does not make sense about the figures, perfectly clear to me.0

YOUR ELECTRICITY SUPPLY DETAILS
Electricity meter type - unrestricted (don't understand that)
Electricity standing charge £0.2740 per day excl VAT
Electricity Unit charge £0.1269 per kWh excl VAT
YOUR GAS SUPPLY DETAILS
Gas standing charge(£/days) £0.2599 excl VAT
Gas unit charge (rates £/kWh) £0.0347 per kWh excl VAT
My husband who knows about figures says these don't make the least bit of sense. But that's all I've got. If this is how they treat a new customer then I dread to think how our relationship will improve!
They look similar to the standing charge/unit cost I have, considering differences in area, your elec. is slightly higher and gas slightly lower than mine, standing charges identical.
I went through another comparison site as I saw people were finding the cheap energy club slow, and I only had a few weeks to swap, but there was no difference in price.0 -

What's unbelievable? The contract date is dated 7th April as that is when they will take over your supply from.Apart from expected blurb, the only figures mentioned on this legally binding contract are:
Monthly Direct Debit payment of £61 payable on 8 April 2014

I don't see any problem with those figures. What is it you don't understand? If this is how they treat a new customer then I dread to think how our relationship will improve!
What is wrong with how they've treated you? They have set out their contract with clearly laid out unit figures just as you would expect any new supplier to do.Will definitely be staying with present supplier E.on When I signed up with them they sent full details of previous supplier and what I'd spent with them for a year and how much. Then their projected figures for the coming year. All clearly stated in writing.
According to your other posts, E.On are £141 dearer than Ovo. You already know what you have spent over the last year so what purpose would it serve to give you that information. You also have Ovo's projected figures for the coming year as you got that information from the comparison site and also the fact that they have set the direct debit at £61pm.
What more information could you want?Have written 2 other posts and replying to this thread to help others. Guess the problem arose because I dared to ring Ovo direct
I can't see anything wrong with what Ovo has done so far. They have set the direct debit exactly as quoted on your MSE comparison as opposed to what you say they quoted you directly. You also haven't helped yourself by quoting the meter units for gas as opposed to the kWh per annum.
Unfortunately it seems that it's your inexperience with switching rather than anything Ovo has done or hasn't done.0 -
I have just left OVO. They have a strange tone in their emails with them being just a tad patronising, as if they are talking to school children. When I left last month they owed me some money, but still they've taken more this month. They now owe me £214. I've asked for it back several times. Let's see how long it takes.0

I was also attracted to them by their prices. Considering abandoning my dual fuel tariff, now that individual ones are cheaper.
I tried phoning their 0800 number, on a weekday in normal "office hours". It just rang and rang with no answer or even a message. So I emailed them asking a couple of questions about their service - including:Your website also states “To facilitate you we have created in our web site a special function to enter your meter reading. Click home or business application, choose meter reading and fill in the required information. If you do not send your meter reading and then we are obliged to assign an authorised Company to do the meter reading, we will charge you the cost of this Service, therefore it is to your interest to do and send to us the meter reading.” What if the website service became unavailable for a lengthy period of time, or indefinitely? Would you then assign a company and charge your customers for it?If the website became unavailable, you can send to us your gas reading via email or telephone.
If you submit on time your gas reading but we did not receive it because of ''technical problem'' (daligas fault)
we won't charge you.

I thought the swift transfer from NPower to OVO has been really easy and their prices look really good too. DD taken as promised so absolutely no complaints and we will be saving money.
I think all companies are slow at returning payments but OVO pay 3% interest on anything you are surplus!Saving needed to emigrate to Oz*September 2015*
£11,860.00 needed = £1,106 in savings

We never had any issues leaving Ovo
Are you referring to the early exit fees you'll get hit with if you leave too early? £30 per fuel is it? We never paid them as we kept to the agreement and left after 12 months without agreeing to another fixed period.
Or the fact they take 1 more monthly DD payment after you have actually left them? (It's included in the final bill if they do)
(We only left because at the time we got a lower price offering elsewhere)0 -
My experience with First Utility has been OK. I like being able to submit meter readings every month and being charged accordingly, so I am never in credit or debit to them. (Although it does mean you pay more during the winter months, which might be important to some consumers.)
My only problem has been when I need to contact them after realising that I had made a mistake entering my meter readings. They didn't reply to two emails, so I eventually had to spend time in a queue on the phone to get it sorted out.
Apart from that, they have been fine - MUCH better than Scottish Power who are my elderly mother's supplier and really difficult to get hold of.0
