  • I have an alarm set for 7.15pm every night. It's my Don't fall asleep on the sofa, it !!!!!!s up your neck Alarm.

Been doing it since I started this job, but since I've lost some more weight and got a bit fitter, it's not every single night now.

Mind you, came home today and the Lovely Fella was in bed having vegged out for his day off. I took a cup of coffee up to him at about quarter to five, flopped onto the bed, he asked how my day had been - and the next time I opened my eyes, it was 6.30 and almost dark.

However, we both do silly hours. I've been doing 8-6,7,8,9,10 or 11 six days a week for the last few weeks, he's been doing 8-5 plus 6-2.30am and then we stay up until morning on weekends.

I suppose we've got used to prolonged bursts of activity, a couple of hours down and then up and at 'em again.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Generally speaking when I get in from work I tend to fall straight asleep, then sleep until I have to get up for work again, I don't know if it's my meds or my bipolar, but I am knackered all the time and I only work part time ATM (though my hours are double my contract hours atm)

Bf sleeps at random times as he works night, he came to stay yesterday and after about an hour fell asleep leaving me to amuse myself, though he actually does look someone cute when sleeping :rotfl: so I don't mind

My husband comes home from work, maybe/maybe not has a can of lager. Then he has his dinner. Half an hour after that his eyes start closing and his head starts going. Eventually his head falls back so far that it hits the wall behind the sofa. He starts awake and then the process repeats itself again and again until he lies down. Then he sleeps anything from quarter of an hour to three hours if he's very tired.

    After that we have dessert.

How can folk do that and sleep at night? I did the lethal thing and lie on couch tonight after work hence why I am posting on MSE at 3.30am. Fell asleep for an hour, had dinner, watched a film and have been in bed since 10pm trying to go to sleep. I have always been a 'poor' sleeper anyway. I work Mon-Fri with my alarm going off at 5.45am. I usually get in the house around 5/6pm. I usually go to bed around 11pm and never usually fall asleep after midnight. I don't particularly worry about work or find it hard to switch off. Anyway, my question would be - after post-work snooze do you/your partners sleep at night?

You're having your nap too late in the evening.

If I ever sleep after work (not so much these days now I've got used to working shifts, but at first I did it quite a bit) I'd finish work at 3pm, sleep maybe 4 till 5 or 5.30 and then have the whole evening feeling refreshed before going back to bed at around 11 and sleeping till 5.30am.

Its not really possible when you work 9-5, the Andalulcians have got the right idea with a siesta built into the working day!

Life in the UK..Eat,sleep ,work, repeat, eat sleep ,work ,repeat....it is no wonder that many people submit to narcolepsy. Its the bodies way of escaping from reality and for many, a result of stress and a depressive mood state.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
