When to plant..?
Bearing in mind my very cold exposed situation at 1000ft - when could I plant out these shrubs? I have just made out a list of things I think suitable, but if any of these are wrong for here then please tell me
Agapanthus
Hardy Fuchsia
Broom
Forsythia
Phlox

IMHO Agapanthus isn't reliably hardy, but some varieties are tougher than others. You should consider having that in a pot and take in over winter.
Broom, Forsythia and Phlox could go in now if the ground isn't waterlogged/frozen.
Hardy Fuchsia I'd be waiting until May so it can establish after the risk of frost and it'll still need mulching over next winter.0 -
Ok that helps, thanks. I could put the fuchsia round the front then as it's a wee bit more sheltered. I'm re-designing a bit at the back and wanted to get things sorted in my head before I start digging

EDITED - if I start Sweet Peas in the back room now, can I plant out when they are big enough? or do I have to wait until later?0
