Yet more problems with Windows 8.1

I downloaded and installed Firefox and set it as my default browser which I have used for years and I am comfortable with it.

Everytime I set my homepage to my own choice, it stays there until the system is shut down and restarted. When the laptop restarts my homepage has been changed back to some crappy advert for some obscure page wanting me to download some cleaner or other.

Can someone please tell me how do I stop this happening?

All these issues I am having with 8.1 are unreal and I am really getting quite sick of it now!

Sounds like you didn't untick the box to add some crappy search engine adware.
    Try this
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/searchreset/
(PS. nothing to do with Windows 8.1)

Don't mean to be funny but... how is this a windows 8.1 issue? more than likely you have installed something and not been reading the install screens and have left in something ticked that shouldnt be.

I realize it is not actually a windows 8.1 problem, however having had so many issues trying to understand 8.1 and sort out other issues, I am climbing the wall with it.
