Last hurdle - unadopted road, indemnity insurance and solicitors' ping pong!

We're at the last hurdle of our house purchase since the offer was put in in October 2013. The last thing that's needed is a statutory declaration by the seller over the use of an unadopted road, and a lack of easement indemnity insurance.
There has been a lot of ping pong communication going on between the two solicitors over the past few months and the vendor's solicitors are both slow and rather reluctant at replying to any queries.
They are now asking for our solicitors to write the draft of the statutory declaration themselves and are unwilling to provide indemnity insurance. Obviously, our solicitor is also acting for the mortgage provider and they need everything done by the book.
Is there anything else I can do to speed up the process? Is it worth offering to cover the indemnity insurance, or just sit tight and let it unfold?

If you want to cover the cost of the indemnity policy, you can do that.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
