Cannot Bluetooth from my mobile phone to my PC

I have windows 7 (pro) and bluetooth installed on my desktop pc. I have a new Sony Xperia mobile phone with bluetooth preinstalled.

I took some photos on my phone today which I then tried to transfer to my pc via bluetooth when I got in. The Sony phone activated bluetooth and found my pc and I told the pc to receive images.

I then sent the message on the Sony phone which then tried to transfer an image I selected and said it was sending it. However no message appeared on the bluetooth app on my pc to saying it was receiving it. Eventually the transfer timed out and the phone reported it had been unable to transfer the image.

It worked fine with my previous phone (an HTC) but I have not used it before with the Sony or indeed for a while and there have been some windows7 updates since then. I have looked on the Sony site and there are no reports of problems with bluetooth on the xperia. So I am wondering if the issue is with Windows7.

Anyone know?

I bluetoothed a picture from my Nexus 4 (Android 4.4.2) to my laptop (Win 7) the other day and it worked fine - I did have to confirm that the same code number was displayed on both devices.

No, no probs with windows 7 or the phone, perhaps the way you do it on the Sony is different from the HTC, media server settings-share media has to be on along with usb connectivity, although this is on wifi, there is a setting on the PC companion to connect via bluetooth too.
