NPower Gas Bill (Help in understanding required!)

Firstly let me explain that we are with NPower for our gas & electric and pay via Direct Debit, last month we got this statement through...

At this point I took a reading and noticed they were way out, so much so that even their last estimate was still higher than the actual reading of now which was 10503 so I supplied this actual reading to them online and a week later received this revised statement...

However, in the revised statement I have noticed they have also adjusted the previous estimate now, is this right, also I really don't understand all the different kWh tariffs I have been charged such as 609 kWh at 4.042.
My main concern though is that they have acted correctly with the revised bill and I havn't been charged too much previously as a consequence of it?
Thanks

It looks like you have been treated fairly.
You have a Metric meter which means each gas unit is 11.14kWh(this can vary very slightly each quarter)
Along with most utility companies you pay a higher rate(called tier 1) for xxkWh each quarter and the rest at a lower rate(tier 2) NPower vary from others in that they don't have the same no of units each quarter at tier 1)
Your bill is slightly complicated by a price change on 30 April - they increased tier 1 prices and decreased tier 2.
So on your original bill they charged you 609 kWh at tier 1(4.042p) and 2554kwh at tier 2(2.177p) for the period before the price change(on 30 April. Then 554 @ tier 1(4.412p) and 1645 at tier 2(1.915p) after the price change.
On the revised bill(which is for a 6 day longer period 13 June extended to 19 June) you have been charged 609/739kWh for tier 1/tier2 to price change date of 30 April, and 621/400 after that.
The overall reduction in the number of kWh used went down from 5,353 to 2,369kWh.
The amount charged at tier 1 correctly stayed the same(allowing for the 6 extra days) They have split the kWh reduction between the pre and post rise period. The reductions there are not exactly pro-rata as it is deemed(correctly) that you use more kWh in the early period because it is colder.0 -
Something is wrong with this site or my PC.
I split the above reply into paragraphs and it posts it as shown - making it very difficult to read.
I can't edit either.

Lol, I noticed the unreadability too.
However, you seem to have given a very complete response which should be very useful to the OP and I also found it helpful so thanks.0 -
Many thanks for the reply Cardew, they have upped my DD payments to £46 a month now but I knew the £28 they were taking initially would not be enough so expected to be paying too much now to make up for it.0
