Canon Pixma MG3150 not printing in colour.

Options
Hi
I have a Canon Pixma MG3150 printer and installed it on my XP laptop.

The printer works perfectly using the black cartridge but will not print in colour.

The printer reports the colour cartridge is full.

I have selected to print in colour.

I have checked the colour cartridge and it looks okay.

I have tried test prints (Which just output in black) and tried cleaning the print heads but still no joy.

The printer Properties has Greyscale as unticked

Any ideas?
G

Has it ever printed in colour, and now no longer doing so?

Cleaned the heads? If you don'r print regularly in colour then they'll inevitably clog up. Run the deep cleaning sequence.

if the coloured areas are blank, then it is clogged up heads. Deep cleaning as above. If they are printing black, then somewhere somehow, you have got print in black ink only switch on. DG

    Thanks for the replies.

I was given the printer. I will find out if it has printed in colour before and update this post.

I tried a deep clean and still no colour is output.

I tried to clear the cartridge with acohol cleaner but still no joy. I can see traces of colour on the cleaning cloth, not sure if this is significant?

I noticed that although it is not printing in colour the amount of ink being shown remaining in the colour cartridge is reducing?

I was checking the prices of the cartridges required for this printer and to replace both cartridges is only about £10s short of a brand new printer!

If you don't know the history of the printer I would suggest you try a new cartridge.

This is purely a software function (it guesses !) - it has no connection to the amount of ink that is actually being used. Never replace a cartridge when the printer says it is empty - it won't be !!

Welcome to the rip-off world of ink cartridges.........
