Alternating named drivers on car insurance policy.

Options
I have recently sold my car, so I am a named driver on my husbands car insurance policy.

As cars cannot be jointly owned the vehicle is my husbands name.

Can we legally alternate the insurance between us,to ensure continuity of my no claims bonus (NCB) if we should wish to take advantage of better rates from a different insurer in the future?

Cars can be jointly owned, it can only have a single registered keeper though.

Yes, you can switch who is the PH each year to maintain both NCDs. Just make sure you correctly declare owners and who the main driver is (insurers dont have issues with spouses typically)

Yes did that that when we went down to one car for a while. No problem.
  • Thanks for both replies,
I now know we can alternate the names on the insurance to keep my NCD, hopefully without any problems.
