Home insurance policy cancelled does it affect Motor insurance?

Good afternoon, tried searching and got mixed responses. Last year my house insurance was renewed by Sureterm Direct for a second year. 3 months into the policy I received a letter stating they hadn't received my returned policy documents with a signature. I explained that I hadn't received them. They placed a 10 day holding period to send out new ones. I received the documents and sent them back but was told I had missed the 10 day holding period and they had already cancelled my policy. Having spent the last year getting nowhere with them and having debt collectors chasing for a cancellation fee that they added to the situation I am now in a position where I need to renew my car insurance with another company. However when I try to use comparison websites it asks "have you ever had an insurance policy cancelled" and I am not sure what I am meant to put. Does the issue of Sureterm cancelling my house insurance also now affect me applying for car insurance?

If the question is as you say, then you do need to answer yes.

In most cases yes, it will affect any personal general insurance you want to buy.

Ultimately speak to the insurers in question, occasionally you'll find a sympathetic advisor etc. Just Protection (life, PHI etc) dont tend to effect General if you've been declined because of a medical condition etc
