Possible dodgy Ford service

At the end of October I had my Ford CMax serviced by a Ford Sandicliffe garage. The report listed everything green and all my brake disk pads were listed as 50% worn. This weekend my car failed its MOT with the rear disk pads being under 1.5mm. I've only done 3,628 miles since the service! I feel like they did a rush job on the service and I'm thinking of complaining and asking for a refund. Has anyone else complained and tried to get money back? Any success? Thanks.

I very much doubt the dealer would have overlooked the opportunity to stiff you for a set of pads if they were anywhere close to needing changing !

As above, the garage wouldn't have passed the oppertunity to get some work from you with doing your brake pads. This would be an additional fee on top of the service.

Most people complain when garages recommend they need work and try and dispute they don't, it's rarely the opposite such as is happening here.

Is it possible the MOT inspector is trying it on?
Ask them what device they used to measure the brake pad thickness seeing as they're not allowed to remove the wheel or anything else from the vehicle during the MOT

No question of it being a dodgy MOT tester? Pads can be checked with wheels on. Tell the tester you will be down to have a look as 4,000 miles ago they were only 50% worn.

That's what I thought at the time. But I'm getting noise from the rear when I break hard (metal against metal sound) and the EPB warning light is on so I suspect the pads do need replacing.

I've used the Halfords center quite a few times, the Ford place only once so I have more confidence in Halfords. Of course this means nothing for ripping though. I do have noise from the rear under breaking which made me think the pads need replacing, just annoyed that I've paid for a service and it looks like they didn't do much for the money - if they did anything at all!

If they had to replace your pads that wouldn't have been included in the price of the service normally.

If you can hear metal to metal, the discs will likely be scored and need replacing as well.

Yeah, MOT has those down as advisory "Pitted and scored" I think was the term they used.
